CytoSport Muscle Milk n' Oats Review

I have low blood sugar, so I am always excited about trying a new product that is high in protein to keep my blood sugar levels stable. I have been using Muscle Milk shakes for several years and have enjoyed good results, so I was very excited about trying Muscle Milk oatmeal. I was soooooo disappointed by the awful taste. Didn't want to waste the 6-pack, so I gave some to my Mother. She said she loved the taste, but she used hot milk instead of hot water to mix. Then I tried heating milk for 60 seconds in the microwave and then pouring it into the cup. Wow! What a difference. The taste is so much better that I plan to add this product to my list of food staples. Before I purchased, I read a few reviews that gave poor ratings due to the taste. Try it with hot milk, and you might like it. Since I have low blood sugar, I need to eat a lot of protein which can increase cholesterol; this product only has 5mg of cholesterol per serving, so it is a great way to increase protein. Also, I found the one cup serving to be a little too much. So, I just eat 1/2 at breakfast and put the container in a gladware container and reheat the next day.

I don't think the cake batter formula actually tastes like cake batter. Maybe if you use a full serving, but I normally only use 1/3 to 2/3 of a scoop. It's not bad... I just think the Vanilla Creme tastes better.

Cytosport Musle Milk, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, 2.47-Pounds Review

Cytosport Musle Milk, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, 2.47-Pounds

I drink Muscle Milk every morning for my breakfast. This is my least favorite flavor but I tolerated it to finish it off. I enjoy the Mocha Latte and the Chocolate Malt. I got them on the Subscribe & Save for a great deal. They are delivered automatically with free shipping every 3 months. So I don't get the full 300 calories in one shot, I only put one scoop in (instead of 2) stir well with spoon, add some ice and then drink it through a straw. It tastes best ice cold. Then when I get hungry a couple hours later, I make another one using one scoop. Then I have a light lunch around 11:30.

I am a huge Muscle Milk product fan, and this bar is incredible! I love the powder mix, but when I picked up one of these bars at a local health store, I was in love! The caramel was awesome!
They taste like a Snickers! Very yummy, and filling...pick up a pack of these and have one for b-fast or a post workout snack :)
You will LOVE it!

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light Review

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light

If you're searching for the BEST TASTING protein mix, this is it hands-down! But if you're like me, you'll soon find that it gets quite expensive and you're always running low or out of it because of the SMALL cans. I started out with the 1.65 lb cans and with only 15 servings per container, that was lasting only ONE WEEK with one shake in the morning and one after a workout or Tae Kwon Do class. This 3.3 lb can will get you through 2 weeks at 2 shakes a day...But you're still talking about $90/month or more for a protein supplement. And if you take 3 a day (directions suggest 2-3 servings/day), then you'll go through the 1.65 lb can in 5 days and this 3.3 lb can in 10 days. At that rate, you'll also be paying around $130-$150/month at current Amazon prices. While I have found "cheaper" prices online, they stick it to you on shipping charges and can take several days to get it to you. Amazon's Muscle Milk Light prices with FREE 2-day Prime shipping are pretty hard to beat!
The TASTE is simply excellent! It tastes more like a melted Vanilla Frosty from Wendy's than a protein supplement. However, I kept looking for alternatives because it really does get expensive. I went through a process and found an acceptable substitute that may help those of you also searching for a protein supplement that works, tastes good and doesn't break the bank. Long story short, here's what I mix:
1 scoop of EAS Premium Vanilla Protein Powder 6 Lb Bag (Pack of 5)
1 scoop of Freak Fix-Muscle Asylum Project Protein Matrix, Pure 2lb White Vanilla
1 scoop of Corvalen M® (12 oz, 56 servings)
Mix these with about 10-12 oz of water. This is a very good tasting shake that has not only helped me with new muscle growth...But I also "feel" like my muscles are stronger, and this is something Muscle Milk Light never did for me. I won't bore you with all of the details of each of these supplements, but some are worth mentioning. A 6 lb bag of the EAS sells for about $25 at our local Costco. There are 78 2-scoop servings per bag, meaning it lasts me 78 days at 2 shakes/day at my above mix. The 2 lb Freak Fix container currently sells for $9.95 each with FREE Prime shipping at Amazon (I just ordered 3 more). The scoop is HUGE and at 14 2-scoop servings per container, it lasts me 14 days. NOTE: AVOID THE CHOCOLATE Freak Fix, unless you're feeling particularly gutsy...It's horrible tasting, a weird purplish color and it looks like you've been eating pure tar after you drop the kiddies off at the pool (go #2). Stay with the vanilla. The Corvalen M works at a cellular level and has been "clinically proven to restore cellular energy needed to promote healthy tissue function, increase exercise tolerance and improve quality of life." It's not cheap, but it works. The Corvalen M has 56 1-scoop servings per container so it lasts me 28 days.
I can drink one of these shakes and go through a 1-hr Black Belt class followed immediately by a 45-min Family Class with my boys, and still be ready for MORE...And I'm not sore the next day! This "formula" combines 2 very good whey protein supplements (each with their own "advantage" claims) with the Corvalen M needed to maximize the use of the proteins at the cellular level. For 2 shakes a day, every day, it costs me about $75 per month and I honestly think I could spend 5 times that much and not get the results I get with my protein shake recipe. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
UPDATE: Wow...Our local Costco just replaced the above EAS 6 lb bag of protein with a MUSCLE MILK 6 lb bag of Whey Protein for only $28.99! Unbelievable! CytoSport makes the best tasting protein you're going to find anywhere, and this is just a GREAT PRICE for 80 servings per bag. I still like the Freak Fix vanilla from above and I now mix 1 scoop of it with 1 scoop of Corvalen M and 1 scoop of CytoSport Muscle Milk 100% Whey Protein 27g 6lb Bag of Vanilla. The result is a HIGH-POWERED, great-tasting protein shake that provides your body with 44g of protein per shake and only costs about $43/month at 1 shake/day. This is 88% of the "Daily Value" and is A LOT OF PROTEIN for most people! You don't want to overload your kidneys with too much protein to process and you can simply adjust the amount you want/need by adjusting the scoop size (eg., 1/2 a scoop instead of a full scoop). Remember that you also get protein through a normal diet. I LOVE THIS SHAKE!! I hope you do too...

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light Bar Review

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light Bar
Average Reviews:

This review is for: Muscle Milk Light Bar (Chocolate Peanut Caramel):

I tried the Muscle Milk drinks. They are high protein and filling and I like that I can find them in Lactose Free varieties - chocolate and vanilla. So I thought I'd give the protein bars a go for a change from all that fluid intake(and output). I went with the Muscle Milk Light Chocolate Peanut Caramel. The bars were also zero lactose which is a plus in my case(I have a really really bad relationship with dairy products).
Nutrition info wise - they appealed to me as well. High protein 15 grms;low sugar 9 gr(compared to other protein bars), 170 calories - which are filling and satisfying ,0 cholesterol,6 gr fat(4 saturated, 0 trans)sodium - 105mg,100mg potassium and 4 gm of dietary fiber - not too bad - remember these are the "light" bars. If you are looking for a good source of vitamins and minerals, you won't find that here, so I don't think I would use them as a meal replacement. Also - there are 18 gr of carbs.
The taste was good - very chocolaty and a good taste of the caramel filling as well. The bar is small but hefty weighing in at 1.59 oz. And I found that it was a great way to control hunger between meals. I found though, they stuck to and between my teeth, so this is not something I would eat on the run or right before an important meeting. You really need to brush or rinse afterwards.
The ingredients, which include a bunch of stuff that just doesn't sound too healthy(a couple I couldn't pronounce) and the sticking to my teeth factor, keep me from going 4 or 5 stars.
Here are the ingredients(for the chocolate caramel peanut bar):
Hydrolyzed Gelatin, polydextrose, evaporated cane juice solids, whey protein isolate, fractionated palm kernel oil, milk protein isolate, water, honey roasted peanuts(peanuts, sugar, peanut and/or canola oil, honey, salt, modified potato starch and xanathan gum)corn syrup, nonfat dry milk, glycerin, high maltose corn syrup, peanut flour, cocoa powder, soy lecithin, crystalline fructose, natural and artificial flavors, partially hydrogenated palm oil, salt, butter, sucralose
What the heck is fractionated palm kernel oil or crystalline fructose anyway? Partailly hydrogenated palm oil - isn't that the stuff that all the experts say to stay away from?
Also included milk, peanuts, soy and manufactured in a facility that processes tree nuts.I'm guessing the dairy products like milk are something like "Lactaid" that doesn't have the lactose. I had no lactose intolerant problems with these.
The shelf life looks to be about a year from the manufacture date.
So 3 stars I guess for being high protein, good tasting and lactose free -a VERY occasional snack.
Also check here to compare deals:Muscle Milk Light Bar Chocolate Peanut Caramel 12 bars -where you will also find at this time an option for the Vanilla Toffee Crunch variety.
Remember to breathe, eat healthy and enjoy!..... Laurie

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light, Ready-to-Drink Shake Review

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light, Ready-to-Drink Shake

OK I work out and use protein. That's about it, no other wacky products and maximizing gains is not a goal so much as just being healthy and getting protein. So if you care about how these kinds of products taste and work, then this is the review for you.
Actually it's pretty simple. This stuff tastes VERY MEDIOCRE. That is to say, I rate it just slightly better than say a weight loss shake type product. It is quite convenient no doubt, but no way does this taste even a quarter as good as say 100% whey's products or even syntha-6.
With that said this is "ready to drink" so it is portable. Also, it is not horrible tasting, just not pleasant. Don't drink it thinking it is refreshing like chocolate milk. It is NOT. But in addition to being portable it also has a decent profile; fair amount of protein and limited amount of anything else (calories/other crap).
So in conclusion if you want a lean protein drink and can mix it yourself, 100% Whey blows this stuff out of the water. But for a ready to drink product I have had worse, and it is tolerable and gets the job done. Now you know!
