HoMedics SC-360 LCD Digital Scale Review

(More customer reviews)Product's mechanical packaging and slick appearance is attractive. It is slim and easy to clean. It also has an adequetly large LCD display, BUT....
I had to return the product because it was not giving a consistent and accurate readings.
This scale has internal hysterises by up to +/-5 lbs. Every time you place the same weight on it, you would read a different reading.
I excercised the "auto tare" procedure as it mentioned in the owner's manual, but it did not correct the problem. This product's strain gauge may be sensitive to the changes in ambient temperature and therefore subject to drift. It is known to most scales that there is a small inherent hysterises because of the nature of every strain gauge, but it should be compensated via software or manually. This product was not equipped to do that.
I think I should go back to the analog scales with manual adjust for the "tare" function

Tanita HA 623W Rotating Dial Scale, White Review

No instructions on how to stop the wild fluctuations, and differences of as much as 20 pounds even when you're trying to stand in the exact same way. If I wanted to know that I weigh between 150 and 250, I would have looked in the mirror. Total garbage.

(More customer reviews)I realize overall trends are more important than anything else, but, I'm pretty unhappy with just how much this scale varies. It can vary weighing yourself twice by up to 8 pounds! It's really hard to track trends when you dont know if the number you get it +/- 8 pounds at any given time.
I've owned it a couple years, and it's got other flaws - it chews through batteries of the expensive watch type, and i've had to open it several times to clean the circuit board inside with alcohol- it gets wet and when the water dries it reads Err or E untill I take it apart.

(More customer reviews)I have found this scale to be consistant with it's readout and it appears to measure the same as my doctor's manual scale. So I feel that it is reliable and accurate.
I love the style of it since it has a modern feel to it and isn't obtrusive to the eye. The transparent glass allows for it to blend in with my flooring so it doesn't take away from the esthetics of my decor.

Tanita BC-548 Ironman Body Composition Monitor, Glass Review

(More customer reviews)I like this product. I write down the stats, track the results in Excel. The only thing that is iffy is the number that tells your body type. It basically takes the numbers and guestimates - a lot. Other then that it is a great product.
I love the weight, body fat, and muscle weight.
I recommend this for anyone who wants to track more then weight. If you are working out a lot and not losing weight it could be because you are gaining muscle. This will tell you.

(More customer reviews)The scale is good in the sense that it has a detachable screen that enables you to view your weight without bending over, and is somewhat accurate. It looks OK overall with the glass design. However the item is extremely low quality especially the electronic parts. The body fat scale never worked for me. The manual is written in broken English. It is rather hard to decipher. When I used the detachable screen in attached mode, the scale did not work. It gave empty battery signal with a brand new battery. The only way I can use the scale is with the screen detached and the only functionality that works for me is measuring my weight in kilograms. If you're looking at this scale for extra functionality, it is a no no!

Tanita KP 104-300 Digital Scale, Silver Review

(More customer reviews)I originally bought this scale for monitoring the weight gains of hatchling geckos (inside plastic cups, not touching the scale), but when I started dieting this little scale kept finding its way into the kitchen and my purse. Though it won't go over 7oz, I can just weigh 2 halves of a baked potato at a time, etc, and most single serving things aren't/shouldn't be that heavy anyway. I've had it for almost a year and it really is wonderful, little, and accurate. My only wish is that it would have an automatic off after being idle for a while, I killed a battery once that way when I closed its cover and put it away.

(More customer reviews)This scale is truly very disappointing. In comparison to other scales it seems to consistently underestimate my weight. Apart from that, the scale shows me completely different readings, sometimes with gaps as large as 7 pounds, if I measure my weight several times in a row with intervals of a few seconds. In short, I think this scale is pretty much useless.

Health o Meter HDL820-18 Digital Scale with LCD Review

(More customer reviews)I'm more than satisfied with this scale. I was concerned that I would have to buy a more expensive scale to get good accuracy (see reviews of other digital scales in this price range,) but I've tested it several times over several days, and my weight varies by 2 pounds or less over the course of the day. My first weigh-in of the day is pretty much the same as previous mornings, sadly.
The neutral color (grey) and glass would blend in well with just about any decor, and the LCD screen is easy to read, with 1.5 inch high numbers.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it creaks quite a lot when I step on it, even though I'm nowhere near its 330 pound maximum load. That problem is in my head more than in the scale: I don't think it's going to break, but it sounds like I've got two people standing on it at once--I'm not THAT fat, am I?
An added feature is that when I'm craving, I go into the bathroom and look at it, and know that it isn't going to fall for any of my excuses tomorrow morning. So the last piece of cake still sits in the fridge. The scale has intimidated me into not eating it.
Accurate, easy to read, easy on the eyes, and intimidating--I think it's a good deal.
7/12/2008 update: Two years after I bought this scale, I like it as much as I did when I first got it.
In fact, today I realized my mother needs a scale, and I bought this one for her. I threw in a Sudoku book and got free shipping. And I look like a very thoughtful daughter. ;^)
But I got her this scale because I know that, even with her no longer perfect eyesight, she'll be able to read the numbers. And I know that after two years of daily use, this scale is still accurate.
