Seemingly, it had everything I wanted in a pedometer! It is incredibly slender (easily hidden on your waistband by an overlaying shirt), silent, and versatile. I purchased it the same evening I had read the review.
After reading through the instructions, I began the setup process --- which is the first area of discontent. When I peeled the sticker off of the face of the pedometer, I noticed how delicate the display was! At the smallest contact on the display, it would discolor and would take a few seconds to return to normal leading me to question the durability of the unit in a bag or a pocket. The instruction manual is VERY punctuated and offers minimal help in setting up the unit. It didn't even go into how it expected you to measure your stride, which, for those of you who have looked into pedometers know there are many many different stride measurements! Luckily, I found this after searching the FAQ section of their website.
I had the pedometer set up and was testing it while walking around my house, leading to my next area of disappointment. It was not tracking my small jaunts from the living room to the kitchen and back around again. I wrote this off and blamed it on the loose pants I happened to have been wearing and reviewed the product manual a little further. It then dawned on me that I hadn't yet located a feature that was advertised on both the packaging and their website: "Target feature measures progress toward and estimates time to reach goal". Nowhere to be found!
I emailed the company's technical support asking about the display durability, notifying them that their manual was lacking in instruction (specifically with regards to programming your stride), and asking about the missing advertised targeting feature. The reply I received was as follows: "I apologize that the instructions included with the pedometer were not sufficient to set it up. Also, the pedometer would be alright in a bag with other items, but should it be damaged, it would not be covered under our warranty. In regards to the "Target" mode that the pedometer is supposed to have available, I have sent this to the Senior Customer Service staff and they will be contacting you within 24 to 48 hours since there were no details on the issue provided to us."
Based on all of the above my review is as follows: I absolutely LOVE the design of the product. It is slender and silent. It would be accurate in tracking steps during longer walks but has proven inaccurate for every-day "office" back and forth walking. While I have been tracking my steps independently of the pedometer and can verify the step tracker, it has told me that in walking nearly 1,300 steps, I have only gone 1/3 of a mile and have only burned 45 calories. While I have no hard evidence to back up the inaccuracy of these other features, I can confidently say that they are both extremely wrong.
Save your money, there's better pedometers on the market - I'm returning mine a mere 48-hours after purchase!
