Originally my Mother actually purchased the chocolate flavor for me to try, and I was so impressed I decided to purchase the strawberry so I could have a variety in flavors. Keep in mind I have tried many low sugar / low carb meal replacement protein powders from all sorts of locations and brands. This one is by far my favorite! This is the first time I have actually decided to re purchase the same brand of protein powder after finishing the bottle. It's easy to make and mixes well without clumping, tastes great mixed with all kinds of milk- almond, soy, fat free , coconut...and adding ice to the mix in a blender gives it a delicious ice cream texture. I even got my husband to use it and that is no easy to task to convince him to drink a meal replacement shake.

That is the way this product is intended to be used. It is unfortunate to see so many bad reviews on a great product. I have been diagnosed with gastrointestinal problems and this product was very safe and gentle and with the menu he explains in his book to go along with the product, I lost 4 pounds and my husband lost an amazing 12 pounds! We both had a little headache and feelings of tiredness during the first three days as our bodies were getting used to the no sugar, no caffeine, no white flour, etc. diet. After day three my energy level skyrocketed and I felt great! You must stick with his eating plan and be drinking 3/4 an ounce of water per pound of body weight while taking this product. I started taking it and noticed a little bit of a difference, but didn't think much of it. I was not able to take it for a couple of days in a row due the flu. The pain for the next few days was horrible. It really works. The professional strength is also nice because it is only 3 pills vs 6. You HAVE to make sure to take it as directed, otherwise it will not work correctly. I take it as soon as I wake up and wait to eat. It really does work.

(More customer reviews)The fact that this product is sweetened with Xylitol, which is a sugar alcohol, could cause problems for many people, including me. Sugar alcohols can cause painful gas and adominal upset. Since Joran Rubin is very much into solving intestinal problems for people with his Primal Defense (a wonderful product) it surprised me you would use a sugar alcohol in any of his products.
Plus this is not meant to be a meal replacement shake, it is a meal supplement. I believe it says that you should take it before or in between meals to make you less hungry, so you eat less. After I drank one of these I felt just as hungry as before. I like the Garden of Life supplements, but was very disappointed in this one. It made me wonder if it was designed by the same people. I threw two big jars of this stuff out.
Also Garden of Life is proud of the product "Goatein" which is protein powder that comes from goat's milk. Here is what they say about Goatein.

Easy to digest - can be tolerated by many people who have difficulty digesting cow's milk
An excellent source of complete protein that contains all eight essential amino acids - protein building blocks crucial to good health

The only protein powder available made from goat's milk
But yet when they made this "Perfect Meal" they used whey protein powder instead. I think I read that Garden of Life is the only company that makes protein powder from goat's milk. So why would they use whey protein powder? Like I said before, this product doesn't sound like it was designed by Garden of Life. I like many of their other products I have tried, but not this one.

In order to align our thinking, yes I will admit that this Meal Replacement is indeed the worst tasting meal replacement I have consumed. And I will add that the texture is somewhat grainy as well.

Not only did it regulate my system, it also made me feel more energetic. You do have to stick to the instructions given on each packet, and it was very rewarding to do so. (More customer reviews)I actually started taking this for other reasons after doing some research on PubMed. One thing I will say up front is that I'm only taking one pill in the morning, not three a day. I have not had the "seaweed-pee" effect. It has made me much more sensitive to caffeine, but I suppose it's good I'm cutting back. I did feel "off" the first couple weeks, and I occasionally crave beets (go figure), but I think there is a good reason for that.
There is something important to remember when taking this product. It triggers the metabolism of white fat cells. What many people don't realize is that the body uses fat (more so white than brown) as a sort of garbage can. Chemicals that it cannot properly metabolize, especially chemicals that are oligophillic (oil-soluble) rather than hydrophillic (water soluble, which tend to be urinated away), are simply sequestered into fat cells. It's the body's equivalent of "sweeping under the rug". So, if you have things like pesticides and such sequestered in your fat cells, and you add fucoxanthin and suddenly start metabolism in your fat, all the sequestered stuff is suddenly dumped back into your system. In the long run it's good to clean it out, but it can make you feel like crap at the beginning.
If you take this, start with just one in the morning, not the recommended three. Also, cut back a bit on caffeine. (If you're on other health supplements, taurine, guarana extract, and yerba mate extract *are* caffeine. Caffeine is a simple, flat, *non-chiral* molecule.) Drink extra clean water to help your body flush. Eat more fresh veggies to help break down extra homocystine.

His health problems moved him to life long research into the area of nutrition and helped him in creating (Garden of Life) probably the best nutritional supplements on the market today.
Someone has once said that plagiarism is a form of flattery. I now see company after company getting on the band wagon for probiotics. Hence they are emulating Jordan's "Primal Defense" product and now are even copying the poten-zyme process to an extent.
I highly recommend "Perfect Food" as it is without a doubt probably the best Green food on the planet. I like also Kyo-Green and Wakunaga's product line. All of which can be found here at Amazon.
