I wanted something that looks good to me, considering that it will be visible on my bathroom floor, and I wanted something thin enough to slip under a piece of furniture if I chose to hide it; I also did not want something that I could trip over. It is a great looking, very accurate and well priced scale, that I don't mind seeing on the floor and have not tripped over. It does not slide around, so it is very stable even though it is thin. All other scales that I've owned were destroyed because of water or cracking, but this one is solid and so well designed that it cannot crack and fall apart and cannot be damaged by a few drops of water. I'm thrilled that I chose such a good one this time around and expect that it will last many years.
